Management information systems (MIS) – general name for the business function and academic that covering the application of people, technology .
MIS is a business function that similar to accounting , finance , operation and human resources
To learn about information it is important to understand :

Data – Raw facts that describe the characteristics of an event
Infirmation – Data converted into a meaningful and useful context
Business intelligence – application and technology that are used to support decision-making efforts
